A multitude of problems we think we are trying to address separately in America are all linked back to one root cause: Kids being raised without a dad in their life.
I’m not putting this out there to beat up on single moms. In fact, I’m not sure that if we replaced all the single moms with single dads that anything would be any better, but what I am sure of is that in our effort to prop up single moms, we’ve completely undersold the importance of having a father in a child’s life. Having dad in the house may be the difference between a healthy, happy kid becoming a productive adult and yet another kid killing himself, going to jail or becoming a gang member or junkie. I think if we understood that truth right from the get-go and kept it in the forefront of our minds, we’d see a lot less divorce and a lot more respect for fathers.
